Step back in time and uncover the fascinating history of Oconto County at the much-anticipated 15th Annual Cemetery Walk, "If Tombstones Could Talk." This incredibly popular event, presented by the Oconto County Historical Society, offers a unique opportunity to meet the captivating characters.
Join September 8-10, 2025, for three unforgettable evenings. Talented performers will bring to life the stories of Oconto residents laid to rest at Evergreen Cemetery. You’ll hear tales of a longtime commercial fisherman and musician, a prominent dairy farmer, the family behind the world's largest pickle operation, a dedicated city band director, a local tavern owner, and a beloved hospital nurse.
The first two performances on September 8th and 9th will guide you through Evergreen Cemetery (325 Cook Avenue, Oconto) starting at 6:00 PM. It's recommended to wear comfortable shoes, bring a flashlight and insect repellent for these outdoor tours. On September 10th, the final performance will take place indoors at the John B. LeMay Auditorium at Oconto High School (1717 Superior Avenue, Oconto) at 6:00 PM, offering an accessible option for all. Complimentary refreshments will be served at both locations. In case of rain, the outdoor performances will also move indoors to the high school auditorium.
Tickets are $15 per person and go on sale Monday, August 4th. You can purchase them at the Beyer Home & Carriage Museum (915 Park Avenue, Oconto) until September 1st. Any remaining tickets will then be available at Roberts Hometown Hardware (919 Main Street, Oconto) and at the door before each performance. This event consistently sells out quickly, so be sure to secure your tickets early.
