Boulder Lake Recreation Area features an expanded swim beach providing direct access to the 362-acre Boulder Lake. This lake is a spring-fed body of water with a depth of 11 feet.
For fishing enthusiasts, Boulder Lake offers walleye, northern pike, bass, and panfish. Additionally, several nearby streams provide opportunities for trout fishing. The nearby Wolf River is also known for world-class white water canoeing, rafting, and trout fishing.
Boating access to Boulder Lake is provided via a paved boat ramp, which includes parking for 16 to 20 vehicles. Popular motorized water activities include general boating and waterskiing. Non-motorized options such as canoeing, kayaking, and paddling are also common on Boulder Lake.
This area, located within the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest, is highly popular, especially on summer weekends.
