Wheeler Lake, a clear, 293-acre lake, is located in northern Oconto County, east of Lakewood, within the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest. Visitors can access the lake and its amenities via a public boat landing and a sandy beach.
The U.S. Forest Service owns and operates a public beach on the west side of Wheeler Lake, accessible off County Highway F in Lakewood. This designated swimming area features sandy spots for swimming, wading, and building sandcastles, complemented by picnic areas.
A public boat landing, maintained by the Town of Lakewood on Wheeler Lake Lane, provides access to the lake for various recreational opportunities beyond swimming, including fishing and general boating. A nominal carload fee applies for the use of the park facilities.
