picturesque retreat perfect for families. This beach provides access to 145 acres of clear, inviting water, ensuring an excellent swimming experience. Facilities at Bass Lake Beach are designed for convenience, including ample parking, shady picnic tables, and a bathhouse complete with a family changing room. Beyond swimming, the clear waters and tranquil surroundings make it a popular spot for fishing, boating, and simply soaking in the natural beauty. A nominal carload fee applies for the use of the park’s amenities.

Boot Lake Recreation Area

Situated on the shores of a scenic 263-acre lake, Boot Lake Beach is a popular summer destination known for its beautiful natural sand beach, ideal for swimming and even snorkeling. A parking fee applies for day use. Fishing is a major draw on Boot Lake, home to walleye, northern pike, bass, musky, and panfish, with additional trout fishing available in nearby streams. Non-motorized activities like canoeing, kayaking, and windsurfing are also popular on this 38-foot deep seepage lake. Given its popularity, the campground and beach area often experience heavy use throughout the summer, so plan accordingly.

Boulder Lake Recreation Area

Within the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest, Boulder Lake Recreation Area beach provides direct access to the 362-acre Boulder Lake. This beautiful spring-fed body of water, with a depth of 11 feet, is a popular spot, especially on summer weekends. Anglers will find walleye, northern pike, bass, and panfish in Boulder Lake, with nearby streams offering excellent trout fishing. Boating access to Boulder Lake is convenient via a paved boat ramp with ample parking, accommodating both motorized activities like general boating and waterskiing, as well as non-motorized options such as canoeing, kayaking, and paddling.

Chute Pond County Park

Chute Pond County Park, a sprawling 167-acre county park situated on a historic 418-acre lake, offers an ideal lakeside retreat in Oconto County. Managed by the Oconto County Park, Recreation & Forestry Department, this park is focused on family-friendly fun, with its beach area serving as a highlight. You’ll find ample space for swimming and enjoying the clear waters of Chute Pond. Located conveniently at the end of Chute Dam Lane in Mountain, a parking lot ensures easy access. The beach area is well-equipped with amenities to enhance your visit, including a field house, a park store (offering firewood and other essentials), restrooms and showers, picnic tables, a playground, and a pavilion. You can even find boat rentals available to explore the pond. Beyond the inviting beach, the larger park offers a variety of recreational opportunities, including hiking trails, excellent fishing, and unique features like “Slippery Rock.” The historic Chute Pond Dam, built in 1937 by the Works Progress Administration (WPA) and now listed on the National Register of Historic Places, adds a touch of local history to your visit. With its array of amenities and beautiful natural setting, Chute Pond County Park beach is an ideal destination for a day of relaxation and outdoor adventure.

City Park Beach

City Park is a 24-acre park situated directly on the shore of the Bay of Green Bay, boasting 700 feet of inviting water frontage. The park features a sandy beach, perfect for swimming and easy water access to the Bay. Beyond the beach, visitors will find amenities including restrooms, two large pavilions ideal for picnics, special events, parties, or reunions. The park also offers playground equipment for the kids, horseshoe pits, two sand volleyball courts, and fire pits for evening bonfires. For those looking to extend their stay, nine campsites are available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Green Lake Park

Discover the serene beauty and rich history of Green Lake Park, nestled just south of Mountain, Wisconsin, within the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest. This five-acre gem proudly reopened its gates on May 25, 2024, after nearly a decade, thanks to the dedicated efforts of the Mountain Historical Society. Green Lake Park offers a truly special escape where you can spend your day relaxing on the natural sand beach, perfect for swimming and soaking up the Northwoods sun. The park provides access to the 25-acre Green Lake, a tranquil no-wake lake ideal for paddling or simply enjoying the calm waters. Step back in time at the park’s historic pavilion, a magnificent stone structure built by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) in 1937. This beautifully restored pavilion, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, features a tall stone hearth and is available for rent, offering a unique backdrop for your special events.

Oconto Falls Beaches

Oconto Falls is home to two distinct public beach areas, both offering excellent opportunities for water recreation on the East and West sides of the Oconto River. Each location features a sandy beach area suitable for swimming, wading, and sandcastle building, along with pavilions and picnic areas for public use. Boat and kayak launches are conveniently available at both sites. In the colder months, these waterfront areas become popular for ice fishing, and the river itself integrates into the local snowmobile club trail system, making them year-round recreational hubs.

  • East Side Beach: Located at 631 N Main St, Oconto Falls, WI 54154, this beach provides a convenient access point for enjoying the river’s recreational activities, maintaining the core features common to Oconto Falls’ waterfront.

  • West Side Beach: Situated at 307-399 N Flatley Ave, Oconto Falls, WI 54154, West Side Beach offers a broad range of recreational amenities in addition to its sandy beach area.

Oughton Park

Located in Townsend on Pickerel Lake, Oughton Park is a charming spot perfect for families. Pickerel Lake is a beautiful 176-acre lake nestled in Oconto County, with a maximum depth of 10 feet and moderately clear water, ideal for a refreshing dip. Visitors can easily access the lake via a public boat landing, and anglers will find Panfish, Largemouth Bass, and Northern Pike. The park itself features a brick outhouse, swings and other play equipment for small children, benches by the beach, and a picnic area with tables and a covered shelter.

Wheeler Lake Swimming Area

Wheeler Lake, a clear, 293-acre lake, is located in northern Oconto County, east of Lakewood, within the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest. Visitors can access the lake and its amenities via a public boat landing and a sandy beach. The U.S. Forest Service owns and operates a public beach on the west side of Wheeler Lake, accessible off County Highway F in Lakewood. This designated swimming area features sandy spots for swimming, wading, and building sandcastles, complemented by pavilions and picnic areas. A public boat landing, maintained by the Town of Lakewood on Wheeler Lake Lane, provides access to the lake for various recreational opportunities beyond swimming, including fishing and general boating. Please note a nominal carload fee applies for the use of the park facilities.
